M Street
M. Street (Mitchel Street) is a speculative fiction author and former engineer whose storytelling blends science, spirituality, and nature. Raised in rural Wisconsin by Lake Michigan—where forests fueled his early imagination—he later pursued a graduate degree in computer engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Professionally, he contributed technical publications under a different name before turning fully to fiction.
His best-known work, Prophase (2014), is the first installment of the Mitosis series, featuring high-schooler Piper Walker caught between ordinary life and stirring latent powers. The sequel, Metaphase (2018), continues exploring transformation and identity with the same blend of YA magic and personal growth.
Inspired by a lifelong love of nature, animals, art, and science, M. Street crafts narratives that weave mystical elements into modern coming-of-age tales. He currently resides in Austin, Texas, after spells on both coasts, and is known for his deep connection to the natural world—counting cats, dogs, birds, frogs, turtles, and even monarch butterflies among his companions.
