Gregory Kontaxis

Gregory Kontaxis (born December 17, 1989, in Athens, Greece) is a rising voice in epic fantasy known for his intricate world-building, mythic influences, and high-stakes medieval storytelling. After studying Informatics and Finance in Greece and the UK, he worked as a financial analyst in Vienna and London before dedicating himself to writing full-time.

His debut novel, The Return of the Knights (2021), launched the ambitious Dance of Light pentalogy. It introduces readers to Elliott and Queen Sophie of Knightdorn, weaving political intrigue, warfare, and mythical creatures into a vivid medieval setting. The series has attracted comparisons to Game of Thrones, drawing praise for its blend of Greek mythology and traditional high fantasy.

In 2023, The Fall of the Giants (Book 2) and The Rise of the West (Book 3) continued expanding the saga, with Rise debuting in May 2025 amid a successful Bookstagram tour. His epic fantasy is noted for portraying everyday heroes—soldiers, exiles, nobles—caught in sweeping political and magical schisms.

Drawing inspiration from J.R.R. Tolkien, Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson, and Greek mythology, Kontaxis emphasizes immersive settings and complex conflicts. In interviews, he speaks about learning resilience through critical reviews and drawing on patience in the grind of epic storytelling.

Now based in London, Gregory continues to write while working in investment risk management. He connects with readers through a newsletter (offering a free prequel novella), social media, and genre podcasts and covers.
