A Fine Line

By David Gilbertson

A Fine Line

Penned by a professional journalist, this book first takes us to Britain at the end of WWII. It tells the stories of ordinary British people as they are readying for a party to celebrate the end of the war. As Joseph Steggle, the grocer, promises his neighbours Elizabeth and Jane to tell his life story in exchange for theirs, we are transported to Victorian Liverpool and Dundee and the battlefields of the First World War. Sampling this book, I felt riveted by David's atmospheric storytelling. Every episode made me want to read more. This is an awesome masterpiece of historical fiction that deserves a top rating.
